LETTER TO DPS [HQRS] ON RLO

413/RLO/2013                                                                                                                  30-10-2013
To,

The Director of postal services [Hqrs ]
O/O The Chief Post Master General,
Tamilnadu Circle,
Chennai-600002.

Sir,                                                 Sub: Shortage of staff in RLO, Chennai-  filling up of vacancies requested

Prior to 2006  more than  50 officials were working  in RLO, Chennai. In  2006 the RLO was rationalized and the staff strength was re-assessed and finally ordered by Chief PMG  to maintain there after  14 PAs including Supervisor and 4 Group`D`s and the surplus staff were  deputed PLI Circle office and to  some divisions.

This order was not kept up in course of time and  no  substitute was provided when ever vacancy arises in RLO due to retirement etc.,  This subject was taken up by our Circle union  many times   to the notice of Chief PMG with  a request to fill up the vacancies. After prolonged representations   the  past   Chief PMG  finally agreed to consider our request positively after verifying  the latest statistics. Now it is learnt
that , the verified statistics justifies  for  33 PAs.

As the present PA strength is only 6 against the finalized establishment  of14, the RLO is reeling under un-manageable  acute shortage of staff.  Also of   these  6PAs one PA is retiring in November this year  which will add more difficulties to the remaining staff of RLO. The present MTS strength is also only 2 against 4 already decided adding further difficulties in managing the RLO work load.

Hence our Circle union request the DPS Sir to kindly look in to the matter and take necessary action  to fill up the vacancies of RLO  at the earliest , so that to mitigate the sufferings of the staff working in RLO

With kind regards,                                                                                                                           Yours sincerely

                                                                                                                                                   G.P.Muthukrishnan
                                                                                                                                                           Circle secretary
