To,
Sri.Mervin Alexander,
Post Master General,
Chennai-600002.

Sir,
Sub: Highly un-remunerative in providing Speed post Booking facility at Ambattur HO-
                                      Review for discontinuance requested.

The  Speed post Booking  facility is  available on  Sundays  at  Ambattur HPO.  For providing this facility
1 Supervisor, and  1 PA are brought on duty. Further one packer assistance, and Mail van trip to collect
the Mails are provided. Apart from this there is electricity consumption also , which is very much scarce now adays in Tamilnadu. With all these support only two to three speed  articles  are  being  booked in Sundays on an average and the revenue is not crossing Rs.150/- in most of the Sundays.
More over,  when the post office is already  running  under  heavy shortage, and  the  staff brought on duty on Sundays almost for nil work have to be given the  compensatory off on week days , this exercise further aggravate the shortage  at the time of unmanageable work load on week days.

Finally , it may please  be approached  on the welfare  side also that  the staff are generally unwilling to  work on Sundays ,as the enjoyment of the Sunday and  Holiday  is the property  of the entire family.

Hence our Circle union, in view of the above angles, requests the PMG Sir, to kindly examine this matter
Positively and to cause  issue instructions for the  discontinuance  Speed post Booking at Ambattur HPO
soon.

With kind regards,                                                                                                                               Yours sincerely

                         ACTION IS BEING TAKEN
